Golf Putter
Unlike golf drivers, putters don’t get too much attention from players. This is a strange situation when you think about the fact that the putter is the last club you use to sink the ball.
While skill is one component of putting well, so is the putter itself. You need to have a putter that fits your body structure and putting technique. Here are a few tips to help you find a golf putter that suits your game.
1. Know your measurements
In order to find a putter that is the right length you will need to know your measurements. You should measure from the inside of your wrist to the floor. Incorrect measurements will lead you to buy a putter which is too long or too short, and this will affect your putting technique.
2. Know your posture
How you stand when you putt will determine what putter you need. If you stand upright then you will likely fit a putter with a long shaft. If you crouch over then you will need a shorter putter.
3. Figure your require loft
Take a look at your hand position on the putter. If you have a forward press then you will need more loft to counteract the natural negative loft that you are producing. However, if you have a normal hand positioning then a standard loft putter is all you need.
4. Determine the grip you need
Your wrist action will determine what grip you need. If you have a pendulum action then you will need a wider grip. If you have a lot of wrist action then you will thinner grips for a better release of the ball.
5. Examine your stroke path
If you have small arc to your putting stroke then you will need a heel shafted putter as you are more likely to pull you putts. If you have a straight back and through stroke then you will need a balanced putter as you are more likely to push your putts.
